Drawing inspiration from the objects, symbols, and stories explored in Objects at Play, in this special edition of Intuitive Weaving with artist Cassandra Mayela Allen, participants are invited to create their own personal flag using upcycled and found materials.

Rather than representing an existing nation or club, each participant will translate their own story into textile form—a banner for a memory, a community, a neighborhood, a ritual, a place they call home.

🗓️ Sunday, July 12th | 4 to 6pm
📍 67 West St., Studio 513

"In my studio, I create space for mindfulness and exploration. As a self-taught artist, my practice has developed in an instinctive, flexible way. I’m interested in the making; the process. Always searching for the flow." Cassandra Mayela Allen

NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED!

Various upcycled materials will be available, including reclaimed flags, though participants are also welcome and encouraged to bring their own ephemera to incorporate into the work. Each participant will leave with a finished handwoven piece that can be displayed as a wall hanging or applied to a garment if they choose to get creative.

Registration also includes handmade wooden frame looms (yours to keep for an additional fee), plus drinks and bites.
