A conversation and book signing with costume designer and author Mona May on the power of fashion, identity, and culture.

🗓️ Wednesday, November 19th
📍 67 West St. Studio 513

Join Clueless costume designer and author Mona May for a conversation celebrating the enduring power of fashion as a form of cultural storytelling. The event explores how garments and objects shape identity, how designers and makers translate social shifts into material form, and how style becomes a language of memory and meaning.

Through her visionary work on Clueless, Mona May helped define an aesthetic that remains timeless—its influence seen across generations and trends. Her creative direction forged a dialogue between fashion, individuality, and pop culture that continues to inspire designers and audiences alike.

As a celebration, a special selection of vintage mini skirts from our latest exhibition, Wool Skirts, will be available for purchase. The exhibition centers on the recovery of 632 vintage wool skirts quietly collected by Audrey Huset between the 1960s and 1990s, now reimagined by her granddaughter, Brooklyn-based textile artist Mae Colburn.

As May writes in The Fashion of Clueless, “You can tell a story with a color.” This spirit runs through both the book and the collection—an ode to vintage, individuality, and the timeless narratives woven through what we wear.
