21 ARTISTS AND DESIGNERS CREATED 29 PIECES FROM 47 SKIRTS FOR WOOL SKIRTS EXHIBITION AND CAPSULE.

ARTIST: Athena Kokoronis

SKIRT NO: 03.042 - 33.412 - 33.413 - 33.415

MATERIALS: Deconstructed wool skirts, indigo dye, thread, elastic cording

METHODS: Draping, hand-stitching

STATEMENT

"I was given 7 pieces of deconstructed skirts from the archive, chosen by Colburn. With them, I made the choice to honor the edges of each by leaving them exposed. I used only red and orange threads to hand stitch the pieces together, forming a new skirt that honors the creases, marks, and edges— evidence of what the skirts might have been at another time. I applied a layer of indigo dye to one whole piece and partially to another piece." Athena Kokoronis
