Explore sustainable fiber art making through an immersive soft-sculpture workshop with sculptor and fiber artist Sienna Martz.

Drawing from Sienna’s sculptural practice and commitment to environmentally conscious art making, participants will transform secondhand clothing and organic plant fibers into a 15-inch circular abstract wall sculpture.

Participants will choose from three original abstract designs created specifically for the workshop. Using reclaimed textiles, they will cut their sculptural forms, stuff them with organic kapok fiber, and hand-sew them into dimensional elements. Each participant will make the design their own through their selection and combination of colors, textures, and secondhand fabrics.

The completed felt-backed sculpture will be mounted onto a circular wood backing fitted with hanging hardware, allowing each participant to leave with a finished, ready-to-hang piece of sustainable fiber art.

No previous sewing or fiber-art experience is required.
